This is a permissions post dealing with Lysandra's Veil of Obscurity ability (as detailed here) in a roleplay setting. The Veil is both a passive and an active power.

( ACTIVE )

Verbalization is required. Lysandra's spoken words are deliberately infused with an aura of suggestion when she chooses to activate this ability. Eye contact or the written word is completely and totally irrelevant in terms of channeling this magical power.
No contradiction of knowledge already held and firmly believed. Trying to tell someone that their eyes are brown instead of blue would fail. Instead, Lysandra's mental coercion is more likely to succeed if she targets a person's doubt or ignorance.
Target must be susceptible. This refers both to those lacking magical resistance and those with particular personalities. Any combination tends to make one more vulnerable to the Veil than others. The weak-minded or gullible, the naive or overly trusting, those who want to believe or otherwise don't deeply scrutinize what they're told, and those who lack a strong reason/conviction to be mistrustful of Lysandra are all examples of the latter.
Suggestions must be plausible. Compare "your boyfriend is a zebra" to "your boyfriend has grown distant because he's lost interest in you". Lysandra's suggestions are more convincing if able to draw upon some sort of evidence.
Limited to persuasion. Lysandra can only manipulate others into believing her should certain conditions be met. What she can't do under any circumstance is take control of someone's body or otherwise infringe upon their free will.

( PASSIVE )

This is an unconscious use of the Veil that "evokes a severe disassociation between Lysandra's dual personas, a mental distance purposefully amplified by the vast differences in behavior each one displays. Despite her face and voice remaining the same whether as Evangeline St. Lawrence or as a Chaos Prophet, those who deal with both of Lysandra's identities separately without knowledge of the truth will not be able to put two and two together."

( RESISTANCE. )

"Those with a resistance to magic or the ability to "see" through illusions or spells can nullify both applications of this influence to a certain degree. How much, and how quickly, varies from person to person: someone with strong magical resistance can dispel the Veil's effect entirely, while someone that can only dispel lesser illusions might only be able to dilute or diminish it over time and through repeated exposure. The average human will remain utterly clueless as to Lysandra's true identity and intentions unless they witness her transforming or she breaks one of the conditions mentioned above."

( THE VEIL AND YOUR CHARACTER. )

No one likes having their character godmodded. The point of this post is to help me figure out who would be affected by this ability and whether it'd be a permitted thing to play out. As a note, I'll be contacting players before doing anything should a thread veer into a direction where Lysandra would actively use the Veil.
